No Router Changes Needed

Set up The Blocker's DNS on your child's phone or tablet while connected to the household Wi-Fi linked to your account. Follow the instructions below and repeat them on each device you want to protect. This setup applies to configured devices on that Wi-Fi network; it does not automatically cover cellular data or other Wi-Fi networks.

DNS translates website names into internet addresses. When your device uses The Blocker's DNS servers, Charly can filter those lookups and block access to flagged domains. DNS filtering does not read encrypted page contents or inspect everything inside an app.

  1. Go to Settings, then Wi-Fi.
  2. Find your network and tap the info icon (ⓘ) next to it.
  3. Scroll down to Configure DNS and select Manual.
  4. Delete any existing DNS numbers.
  5. Add 192.241.154.146 as the first DNS server.
  6. Add 167.172.240.35 as the second DNS server.
  7. Tap Save. You're done!
  1. Go to Settings, then Wi-Fi (on Samsung phones: Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi).
  2. Long-press your network, then:
    • Samsung phones: tap Modify Network
    • Other Android (Pixel, OnePlus, etc.): tap Edit (or the pencil icon)
  3. Tap Advanced Options.
  4. Change the DNS setting from Automatic to Static (in "IP settings"). Note: this is different from your phone's separate "Private DNS" setting elsewhere in Settings — that field needs a provider name, not these numbers, so skip it if you see it.
  5. Delete any existing DNS numbers.
  6. Enter 192.241.154.146 as the primary DNS.
  7. Enter 167.172.240.35 as the secondary DNS.
  8. Tap Save. You're all set!
When your trial or subscription ends

There is no free tier. Without an active trial or subscription, The Blocker's DNS service will stop. Our DNS numbers remain in your device settings, so browsing may stop until you restore your normal DNS settings. We cannot change those settings remotely.

iPhone / iPad: Open Settings → Wi-Fi → the info icon beside your network → Configure DNS → Automatic → Save.

Android: Open your Wi-Fi network's settings, then Edit or Modify Network → Advanced options. If you changed IP settings from DHCP to Static for The Blocker, change them back to DHCP (Automatic) and save. Otherwise, restore your previous network and DNS settings. Names vary by phone.

Repeat on every device you configured. Restoring normal DNS ends The Blocker's filtering on that device. If Wi-Fi browsing has already stopped, use cellular data or another working connection to access these instructions or manage your subscription.

  1. Delete the app you want to fully block (Instagram, TikTok, whichever). Press and hold the icon, then Remove App → Delete App. If there's more than one, just repeat this step for each — there's no bulk option, but each one only takes a few seconds.
  2. Go to Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions, and turn it on.
  3. Go back to the main Screen Time screen, tap Lock Screen Time Settings, and set a 4-digit passcode — pick one your child doesn't know, separate from their regular device passcode.
  4. Go to Content & Privacy Restrictions → iTunes & App Store Purchases, tap Installing Apps, and set it to Don't Allow.
  1. If you don't already have Family Link set up, install it from the Play Store, open it, and sign in with your own Google account — this will be your parent account.
  2. In Family Link, link your child's Google account. If they don't have one yet, Family Link can walk you through creating one.
  3. Follow the prompts in Family Link to connect your child's Android device — you'll sign in to their Google account on their phone and approve supervision.
  4. Once connected, open Family Link from your own phone to manage their device — block or restrict specific apps, require your approval before new apps are installed, set screen-time limits, and more.
